Artfive0 is a newly launched public mural competition in the United Arab Emirates. Awarded by ICD Brookfield, Artfive0 encourages creativity and welcomes all artists living, working and/or studying in the GCC countries to enter. The winner receives a AED 50,000 award plus installation expenses to be used for a large-scale outdoor painted wall. This award seeks to discover, cultivate and promote emerging artistic talent in the UAE & Gulf region.

The winner of this award will be announced January 2019.

I had the pleasure of taking on the Artfive0 competition design in mid 2018. This was an exciting new project which I was able to start from scratch. The competition required a full branding suite, design and delivery of the Artfive0 website, design of a custom URL piece to be displayed on the 50 metre wall during the submissions period, and of course creation of all required competition collateral.

The clean strong branding used for the competition look & feel is representative of the blank canvas that is the wall. Special emphasis was placed on keeping the artwork paired back as we did no want to guide or encourage any particular direction for the submissions, the inspiration for the subdue colour palette was taken from the walls surrounding environment.
