I LOVE FREE SPEECH. I ALSO LOVE IGNORE, MUTE & BLOCK
DIPPING MY TOE IN THE POOL OF PUBLICATION DESIGN
SANS magazine is the collective and collaborative publication released annually at the University of Western Sydney. Every year involves a new intake of creatives and requires taking on a completely new name and branded identity for this publication, it is an ever growing and evolving communication piece. SANS magazine represents the 2010 release of this publication; a visually enticing piece focusing on the notions of freedom within modern society. This powerful and hard hitting edition questions the ideas of speech, thought, sexuality and behaviour as well as including some interesting and fascinating lifestyle articles.
SANS magazine consists of a purely creative team; they drive this publication forward and push each and every annual issue to the heights of its potential. This creative group of companions operates within the realms of a studio style environment with every member working within an assigned role to ensure a successful release.
During my time working within the SANS family I fulfilled the role of designer and image director, creatively, conceptually and physically doing my part to mould this magazine into the successful visual that we proudly launched. Working closely along numerous colleagues for the duration of its development and design proved to be an enriching experience that involved working on creative concept development, image creation, copywriting, studio-based and on location photoshoots as well as in-depth work within the adobe creative suite.
